Harrison's Birthday

In the midst of all the Christmas excitement, we stopped to take a break and have a day just to celebrate Harrison turning 5!! He's been looking forward to his birthday for a long time, so much that we decided that this year we were going to start celebrating his 1/2 birthday in June as well. After all, he gets all his excitement from Christmas & Birthday in just a 3 day span -- then it's a looooong 362 days until it comes around again. :)

He woke up that morning and headed straight to the gifts, of course! He'd only asked for 2 things from us for his birthday -- a big pirate ship & a big Lightening McQueen. That boy is easy to please.
I forgot to take a pic of his haul until we were a few gifts in, oopsie!

Grammy & Pops sent him the She-Ra action figure he wanted to go with his He-Man.

Opening his big pirate ship! I have to admit that this is a cool toy -- it even goes in the bathtub!

Opening his gift from Madeleine -- Angry Birds stuff. She chose it herself and he loved it! He also got a cars game, big cars book and Mimi & Grandad got him a Thomas Pirate Ship & Cars Memory which he loved as well. One thing I adore about Harrison is his sense of gratefulness -- he says "thank you" or "just what I always wanted" or "wow" after each gift and gives a hug without any prompting.

Mimi and Grandad arrived and we had breakfast. I made what Harrison requested -- Paris Puffins & Bacon, and ONLY that. He was one happy boy that morning.

We spent the rest of the day playing at home -- Harrison took a long bath with his Pirate ship and just enjoyed all of his new toys. Then after Charlotte's nap, we headed out to his pick for dinner, Red Robin (which is the spot of choice for most birthdays its seems). The funny part is that the kids want to go there and they always order pizza, when it's a burger place. But, it makes them happy and that's what counts, and I have to admit they do have good kids pizza. We actually had a very peaceful meal since Charlotte was very hungry and happy to just sit and eat throughout the meal.

After dinner, it was time to head home for cake! This year Harrison ventured away from the Thomas cake of the past couple of years and went for a Cars cake instead.

I think he had a great day! I still can't believe that he's 5 and how much he's changing every day -- I have a post coming all about Harrison at 5 after I finish up Christmas. I love that boy so much, more and more every day!
