Lazy Hazy Crazy Days of Summer

With temps hitting all time highs around here, we've been hitting the pool daily (sometimes 2 times a day) to try and beat the heat!

This summer we've had the best time at our pool! For starters, it has a zero grade entry on one side, so Charlotte can sit and wade in it. It's also relatively shallow (3-4 feet) and the kids can touch almost all over. Since we do have access to a pool & it's only 2 houses away -- walking distance -- we haven't done swimming lessons. Instead we decided to work with the kids and try and teach them to swim ourselves. Madeleine has come a long way this summer & can swim okay on her own, she just lacks confidence which I think will come with time and practice. Harrison is also getting much better and is all over the pool in his floatie and will jump in the deeper sides and swim back.

Being so close has been such a blessing this year! We can change and be at the pool in just a few minutes and I don't feel like we have to pack up and go and stay all day. So, often, we'll go for awhile in the morning & again in the afternoon. The pool completely wears Charlotte out! She's been napping almost 3 hours most afternoons and that's after sleeping 12 hours at night! This girl loves her sleep.

The kids spend a big portion of our time there just jumping off the sides....over and over and over.
