We had such a fun Christmas Eve this year! I got up super early and made a quick run to the grocery for a few last minute things we needed. By the time I got home the kids were just starting to wake up. Their first request: to open their gifts from each other. So after breakfast, that was the first thing on the list.
This is one of my favorite traditions! I love that they take so much time picking out gifts to each other and are more excited to see each other open the gift they've picked out than they are to open their own. Charlotte was still not quite sure about all of this, but she caught on quickly!
They loved their gifts from each other! It works well because they went off happily playing for the next hour while I rushed around trying to get a few things started on our Christmas Dinner for the next day. Soon, it was time to check NORAD and then work on icing our cookies for Santa. :) Everyone loves this and it was so much fun!
We cleaned up mid-afternoon and went for a late lunch/early dinner of Chinese. This has become our Christmas Eve dinner tradition. After dinner we got some ice cream and drove around looking at some Christmas lights. We had such a laid back Christmas Eve this year. The kids played, we all worked on our Santa Look & Find and played some UNO. It was the perfect way to spend the day!
We headed home and got on our PJs with the excitement bu...ilding! The kids put out the Magic Reindeer Food we'd made and we read The Night Before Christmas. I love that we've read this from the same book since the first year we had Madeleine. We put out our OJ & Cookies for Santa & some carrots for the reindeer.
We tucked them into bed and I was surprised at how quickly they went to sleep. Santa had already put together the only item that had to be assembled and it was by far the easiest Christmas Eve that this house has seen ever!
