Harrison's Birthday

Harrison has been looking forward to his birthday for weeks! With it just 3 days before Christmas and the excitement of Christmas & a Birthday almost back to back you can just feel the excitement pulsing through our house.

His birthday gift from Grammy & Pops came a couple of days before the big day & we let him go ahead and open it! He loved his bop-it and we all had quite a good ol' time with it!
Mimi and Grandad came up a day early and we celebrated Christmas with them! The kids were out of school that day & Matt only had to work until 3pm. Woohoo! We opened gifts and then we out for some of everybody's favorite -- mexican!  The kids loved their gifts & Matt & I were thrilled with ours as well. :) Charlotte used the time to get in some extra snuggles.
Saturday morning arrived bright and early! Harrison was up and ready to go well before 6am. I made him lay in the bed with us until 7, and we got some good birthday snuggles. We got up and started making his requested birthday breakfast -- pancakes, paris puffins (a birthday tradition here) and bacon. Lots of bacon! I put sprinkles in/on his pancakes and a candle on top!

After breakfast, it was time for presents! And, boy did he have a few! Mimi and Grandad contributed to the madness and he was one happy camper! He took his time opening them and loved everything!
Madeleine picked out a some Star Wars stuff for him -- quite a hit! Star Wars is his new obsession since Matt let him watch the "edited" version of the movies this month.

His big gift that he'd been eyeing for weeks was the Imaginext Castle. I have to say it is so cool. Mimi & Grandad got him the Ogre and a few other pieces that go with it and they all interact with each other. He's played with it for hours already!

He also got some "kid-sized" tools from Lowe's for his birthday along with a project to do. He couldn't wait to try it out, and before long he and Matt we hard at work! He built a boat with just a bit of help.

Mimi & Grandad got Madeleine and Harrison their own personal mini video cameras for Christmas -- Madeleine video taped a lot of Harrison's birthday and it was easy to hook up and watch on the TV. It was so cute and she was so proud of what she taped!
After gifts & playing with them, we went for an early dinner/late lunch at Red Robin -- Harrison's choice. Here's Harrison wearing the t-shirt he made earlier that day with his gift from Grandad: a spray paint kit. :)
They brought him a sundae and sang to him. He loved the attention. And, he was sweet enough to share his ice cream with his sisters.
We came home to celebrate with cake and ice cream. I still can't believe there are 6, SIX, candles on that cake! How did he get so big??

We sang and ate cake before Mimi & Grandad left to go home. We spent the rest of the evening playing with his new toys and having fun together. The best end to a great day!
